I recently had the opportunity to meet Maggie Espinosa, the author of the wonderfully entertaining and informative book, "The Privileged Pooch". As an award winning travel journalist who enjoys traveling with her pooch, Maggie decided to do a road trip through Southern California celebrity- style, taking her "furry kid" Marcel with her. Their journey took them from San Diego through Palm Springs; on to Orange County, Los Angeles and finally to the Santa Barbara/Ojai area. They visited 69 hotels, ate at 55 bistros, went to 56 dog-friendly activities and checked-out 38 trendy shops. The result of all this luxury and fun is this marvelous book. Maggie has done such an excellent job describing each venue in wonderful
detail and making it all sound so good you want to go and get a dog to
travel with if you don't already have one. Lots of establishments say they are pet-friendly but in the book, Maggie offers a "wag rating" representing the actual level of pet-friendliness of each establishment visited and includes a rating for prices as well. If you love to travel with your family dog but don't want to be stuck in second-rate motels eating at drive-thru's restaurants, then this book is for you. And if you know someone with a pooch, who loves to travel, this book would make a wonderful gift. Maggie is a resident of La Mesa California and you can follow her at: |
