Thanks to the wonderful efforts of the folks at CAPS ( Companion Animal Protection Society), an ordinance has been passed in Los Angeles prohibiting the sale of commercially bred dogs, cats, and rabbits in L.A. pet stores. The City Council was provided with results of a 2 year investigation done undercover, evidencing the cruelty of Puppy Mill operators, and passed the ordinance by a vote of 12 to 2. Having a city as large as Los Angeles pass this law makes it much easier for other cities to follow suit; hopefully, getting rid of the blight of puppy mills from this country forever. Kudos to CAPS. Keep up the good work! For more information go to: http://www.caps-web.org. |
