As I walk my client's dogs in the pet-friendly complexes near my home, I continue to notice numerous mounds of poop that have not been picked up by the pet's parent or dog walker. It astounds me how people can be so inconsiderate and irresponsible, Often the poop left unattended is right next to a 'scoop the poop' stand that supplies poop bags and a receptacle for throwing it out. So not having a bag is NO EXCUSE! If you are walking your dog you should never leave the house without a bag of some kind to pick up your dog's stools.
At nighttime, it is harder to see where the dog has defecated so you should ALWAYS have a flashlight with you so you can see what you need to pick up. This is not just about the unpleasantness of coming across un-scooped poop but the possibility of stepping in it, of your dog eating it, of your dog stepping in it, of the smell, and it is very bad for the environment as it can get into the water system.
Having a dog as part of your life is a privilege as well as a responsibility. Your dog cannot clean up after himself so it is your responsibility to do that for him.
There really are no excuses so I urge you to step up to the plate, or should I say, bend down to the poop and clean it up.
