Although there is a law in place to stop government funding to any medical institution using dogs and cats in research testing. there is currently no protection for Class B "random sources" which includes shelter animals, rescues, free to a good home ads, and even your own "furry kid". It is still possible for greedy people to adopt an animal from a rescue or a shelter and sell them to medical institutions for research; or even to snatch your kitty while he is walking around the neighborhood, all to make a buck.
To stop this from happening Bill H.R.2256 was created. It is the Pet Safety and Protection Act. Please contact your Representatives and ask them to make this Bill pass. For further information contact the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine at www.PCRM.org.
