Let your Furry Kid BE a Furry Kid

Although most of us love our pets like they were our kids, we allow them to be the animals they were designed to be. Yes we teach them manners so they will be well-behaved; but they are animals with natural instincts and characteristics.. One of the things that really irritates me is when people try to take the cat out of the cat or the dog out of the dog. For example, I went to start a cat sit for a client yesterday and in looking for the litter box discovered it had been removed and instead the cat was being toilet trained. Yes, litter boxes can be messy and sometimes pretty smelly ( if you don't clean them often enough), but toilets were meant for people and cats were meant to relieve themselves in the great outdoors, or at least for indoor cats, in a litter box. They were not meant to relieve themselves on human toilet seats.
Shortly after the cat visit, I was out doing a dog walk and noticed a woman across the street walking her two small dogs. She appeared to be walking fairly briskly and seemed to get upset every time either dog stopped to smell something but didn't do it's business. She also seemed irritated when her dogs noticed the dog I was walking and stopped to look and say hello. She shook her head and actually picked one of the dogs up and started walking quickly in the other direction. The dogs were just being dogs. They were sniffing and socializing with their own species. They NEED to do that. They were born to do that. I felt so badly for them.

Please, if you have a dog or a cat, by all means train them to be polite and non-destructive but let them be what nature intended.;the wonderful animals that we fell in love with in the first place.
