Great News From the Leaping Bunny Website for all you compassionate shoppers.
"In less than two weeks, animal testing on personal care
products will be banned in the European Union (EU). Our international
partner, the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments, has worked on
this important issue for over two decades, and starting March 11, it
will be illegal to market, import, or sell animal-tested finished
personal care products or their ingredients in the 27 countries that
make up the EU. As we celebrate this fantastic milestone, we caution
that there are some regulatory loopholes that may still allow animal
testing, so it will be imperative to continue to look for the Leaping
Bunny Logo for cruelty-free assurance.
The days of global animal testing on cosmetics are numbered, but
challenges still lie ahead. Despite the EU ban, currently, there is no
similar law in the U.S. Furthermore, Chinese regulations stipulate
animal testing on products marketed and sold in Mainland China. What’s a
compassionate shopper to do? Shop only from cruelty-free companies on
the Leaping Bunny list. Let the cosmetic companies that you have purchased from in the past know you will discontinue buying their products unless they make a commitment to go "cruelty-free." For a list of companies that sell "cruelty-free" products products please visit: |
