I just got this announcement from Dr. Gary Weitzman, the CEO of the San Diego Humane Society. What great news!
"If you haven’t already heard, yesterday the City Council unanimously voted in favor of our pet store ordinance! This ordinance will now ban the sale of dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and rabbits in pet stores in the City of San Diego. What a battle, but a HUGE victory for the animals! San Diego is the 33 city in North America to ban the sale of puppies/dogs, kittens/cats and rabbits in pet stores. This is by no means a quick fix, but represents a giant step forward in targeting puppy mills. We’re proud to live in a city that fights for the voiceless animals, not just in our community, but nationwide."
Definitely cause for celebration. Thank you to everyone who helped win this fight.
