Every 10 seconds a dog or cat is put down in a US shelter. Are you doing your part to end pet over-population?
When you spay or neuter your pet you get so many benefits besides saving millions of pets lives. You gain extra years to spend together. Spay/neuter reduces breeding-related health risks such as reproductive cancer. It can add years to your pet’s life, meaning lots of extra toy tossing, treat sharing, and couch cuddling in your future. You gain a better, happier companion. |

February is Responsible Pet Owners Month. For those of you who already have pets you know what a wonderful addition they are to your family and to your life. But with the advantages of pet companionship come responsibilities. It is important to remember those responsibilities every day.
You are responsible for ensuring your pet is getting fresh water, good quality food, exercise, a warm place to sleep, stimulation and love. You should also ensure that he/she is getting regular veterinary care including dental check ups, vaccinations if needed, blood tests etc to make certain they stay in good health. |

I would like to wish a Happy Valentine's Day to all of my blog readers. It is the day of sharing love and I hope you will all do that with your friends and family including the non-human ones. Give your pets some extra TLC today and make sure the dogs and kitties do not get hold of any of your chocolates. They may like it but it is very bad for them. Have a super day.

It is with a great deal of excitement and humility that I share with you the news that I have been selected as PSI's 2013 Pet Sitter of the Year. This is a tremendous honor and I am delighted to be chosen as the national representative for our wonderful profession. I would like to thank the wonderful people who work as part of my team, because I couldn't have done this without them. I also want to thank the other excellent pet sitters that I network with for their friendship and wisdom. |

Most of us are aware that having a pet, particularly a dog or cat, can provide health benefits including lowering blood pressure, lowering anxiety, and preventing allergies in children. But did you know that it can also have a positive influence on our characters? Megan K Mueller, a developmental psychologist and professor at Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine conducted a study to discover the benefits of pets and people in everyday life. The study included 500 young adults between the ages of 18 - 26. |
