With Friends like that...Who needs Enemies

Last evening about 6:15 p.m. I got a phone call from a woman seeking pet care services. She was in a panic. She was leaving the following morning at 9:00 a.m. ( that's today), and had no one to care for her kitty for the week she would be away. A friend of hers who had agreed to care for the cat and house sit while she was gone, sent her a text  message at about 5:30 p.m., saying her couldn't do it after all. Needless to say she was beside herself. She started calling around to other friends but being fairly new to the city, didn't have many choices.

Happy Easter

As Easter weekend is upon us I want to pass on a few safety tips for your furry kids.
Firstly, Lily's are toxic to cats so keep them away from your feline friends.

The Easter Bunny often delivers lots of goodies including chocolate which is very toxic to dogs, especially dark chocolate. Make sure all candy is kept well out of reach of your dogs as well as cats.

With Easter holidays, we often gets lots of visitors dropping by. If you have indoor cats, be sure to keep them safely away from open doors and ask visitors to close doors quickly behind them.

Pet First Aid Awareness Month

April is National Pet First Aid Awareness Month. If you have a dog or a cat, you need to take a course in Pet First Aid. You would be amazed at the many things that can happen to your "fur baby"  but if you know First Aid, it can possibly save their life. Things like choking, bee stings, heat stroke, a broken limb, a bite from another animal, etc. are all possibilities, especially as the weather improves and we spend more time outside with our pets.
Even indoor cats can run into problems such as choking, cat fights, a fall etc.

Furlocity.com

In the April issue of"Your Dog", the newsletter for caring dog owners, I found this great article on a quick way to find a boarding facility for your dog when you need to travel and can't take him along. It is complete with price, reviews etc. It is calledFurlocity.comand is the brainchild of Amber Kirsten-Smit and her husband Andy. It currently covers boarding and day care facilities in 19 states, but they plan  to cover all states before too long. They currently have listings in 49 cities including San Diego.
