According to KPIX-5 in San Francisco, California has moved into the number one spot for dogs being treated for poisoning by ingesting marijuana. What used to be an incident once or twice a month, has increased to 3 or 4 times a week. The State of Washington is second, New York is third and Colorado is now 4th. It is believed that due to the legalization of pot for medicinal purposes, there is a lot more of it around and it isn't being kept away safely from our dogs. Eating marijuana is extremely dangerous for canines. |

Due to the fires in San Diego the last few days, I am sharing some information I received in an email from a Petco representative. I am sure you will find it extremely informative and helpful.
Between the seven fires taking place in San Diego County, more than 44,000 homes have been evacuated. As we have seen in the past 72 hours, when preparing to evacuate, it's important to also think about our furry family members and include them in emergency plans.
Although many residents have been allowed to return home, there are still thousands of people who are displaced and with the lack of rain and warm temperatures. |

I would like to wish all the mothers and grandmothers and great grandmothers a very Happy Mother's Day tomorrow. That applies to all of you who have kids whether they have two legs or four, whether they are feathered or scaled, soft and cuddly or wet and cold.
Being a mother is an awesome responsibility...especially being a good one! So you deserve to get some kudos and lots of TLC from your families tomorrow.
Have fun and enjoy the love.

For those of you living in the San Diego area you know it has been hot as Hedes the last couple of days and will continue today and tomorrow. For the rest of you, summer is on its way and that means warm and hot temperatures. Please keep your pets safe during the heat waves.
Make sure they have plenty of cool, clean fresh water at all times. Take water with you on your walks with the dogs. Keep dogs in the shade when possible and do not over-exert them especially in the middle of the day. Keep dogs off black asphalt when you go for walks. |
